Women
form more than half of the population of our country, which has not been,
provided equitable share in the process of the economic development. Lack of
knowledge, skills and economic independence has resulted gender
subordination and other forms of oppression. Observing this disadvantaged
status of Pakistani Women, WOW has been setup as a non-political welfare
organization to combat the dominance of men in social and economic division,
on the basis of Gender, Class, Religion, Race and Nationality.

The WOW
aims at the development and welfare of women, which has been formed with the
following aims and objects:

To
provide legal aid to women, through legal awareness, education,
counseling and providing legal assistance and advice to women involved
in family disputes, women in prisons, children in prisons, bonded labor
and victims of human rights violation and denial. |

To
work to eliminate physical, sexual and psychological violence against
women and its causes and to remedy its consequences. |
 |
To
improve the living conditions of the women, through promoting income
generation activities and projects, including training, increasing the
general awareness, more jobs etc., especially for destitute, indigent
widows and orphans, so that such women may view themselves as equal
part in society. |

To
improve health status of women through sustainable health facilities and
better health care, sanitation and environment, through self-help
community action and involvement in the local civic system. |

To
uplift the Socio economic conditions of low income families through
establishment of permanent Centers for training, assisting women and
girls in income generating activities, through vocational training. The
WOW will also work as an Employment Exchange for women. |

To
improve educational status and increase education among young girls, so
that the women may be viewed as excelling part of society. |
 |
To help mothers for rearing of Mentally Retarded Children
and to improve health status of women living in Katchi Abadis (Homeless
People) of Lahore through improving their own health behavior and
training for better health care for community and sustainable health
facilities. |
